The platform is designed to enhance the shared viewing experience, offering a clean, intuitive UI that makes it easy to browse content, invite friends, and start streaming. The primary goal of the project was to create a user-friendly interface that simplifies the process of discovering and streaming content while integrating strong social interaction features.

Research and Discovery

The research phase focused on understanding user behavior in both streaming platforms and social media. Interviews and surveys were conducted with users of existing streaming services, revealing that many users missed the communal experience of watching movies and shows with friends. This led to the concept of Vsion—a streaming app that enables shared viewing experiences with integrated social features. A competitive analysis of existing streaming platforms showed that most lacked real-time interaction and social engagement features, creating an opportunity to introduce a platform that blends both. This insight formed the foundation of Vsion's design and feature set, ensuring users could not only stream content but also socialize during the experience​.

Design Process

  • Wireframing and Prototyping: Created wireframes and prototypes to outline the core user journeys, including content exploration, inviting friends to watch, and engaging during a live stream. These prototypes were iterated based on user feedback.

  • Visual Design: The UI focused on delivering a premium cinematic feel, using a dark theme with bold, vibrant accent colors to make content stand out. Visual consistency across different devices (mobile and tablet) was a key focus.

  • Social Integration: Designed interactive features such as live chat during streaming, recommendations, and the ability to invite friends into streams, allowing users to watch and comment together in real-time.

User Testing

User testing was a crucial part of refining the Vsion app's interface and interaction design. A group of early adopters was invited to test the app's key features, including content discovery, the streaming process, and social engagement functionalities. - Onboarding and Navigation: Users praised the onboarding process for its simplicity and the ease of setting up an account, choosing preferences, and finding content. Reflection

Future updates to the app will focus on enhancing the personalization of content recommendations and introducing additional social features, such as user-generated content and shared playlists, to further enrich the communal viewing experience.
